******************************************
The above pledge to contribute $25 was made by me
in our web site message forum on January 25, 2009.
My pledge was made pursuant to Marjean Larson
Gingrich’s announcement that I posted on that
same date on our web site.
My actual contribution was made by check dated
on or about September 19, 2009 at our sit down
dinner at the Hillcrest Country Club.
To date, my check has been not been cashed and
apparently has not been forwarded to the Foundation
on behalf of the LNE Class of 1959 as
I thought it would be.
I feel obligated to provide an explanation as best I
can to other classmates making similar contributions
pursuant to the web site announcement. All donors
are entitled to know the status of their contributions
and regrettably what follows is a discussion of options
that is long overdue.
It is important to note that our fine reunion committee
was never, in any way, involved with the posting
of the solicitation announcement for donations to the
Lincoln Public Schools Foundation.
As a matter of fact, I did not consult any reunion
committee member prior to posting the announcement.
Marjean had a great idea to return something to the
community that was in many respects responsible for
our educational development and to help others.
Once I learned of it, I wholeheartedly, and without any
reservation, endorsed the idea and took steps to assist
in promoting the endeavor on our web site.
Because almost eleven months have gone by since my
donation, I contacted my bank and learned that
any check not negotiated within 180 days of
issuance is considered a stale check and will not
be honored for payment if presented after that period.
Accordingly, I plan on making my contribution
directly to the Lincoln Public Schools Foundation.
Earlier in the week, I emailed Marjean Larson Gingrich
the above information and asked for her thoughts on
my explanation.
Marjean responded and asked me to add her following
comments to the above explanation:
"I don't have Internet at home any more but since I am
again working full time, I can look up addresses on my
work computer.
The only thing I would like you to add to your explanation
is that I sincerely apologize, and that a $500.00 gift
has been made in the name of our class.
Best regards, Marjean"
For those who are in a similar situation and who still wish
to return something to the Lincoln Public Schools in
addition to Marjean's contribution in appreciation for
what the Lincoln Public School system did for us, see:
Additional information on direct contributions can also

Cheers!
