"My guess is this was a Bethany school choir singing at the Bethany Christian Church. They didn't make a big deal over separation of church and state in those days.
The public school, the public library, the church, and Mrs. Chambers' apple tree, were all within less than a block of one another.It was all one community, except Mrs. Chambers didn't feel that way about her apple tree.
Annually, in the church they performed an Easter Pageant with full costume and music, probably several nights during the week of Easter. Almost everyone in the Bethany neighborhood attended in full Sunday dress, regardless of the church they normally went to.
The featured soprano soloist in the pageant was always Mrs. Esther Price, the wife of the founder of King's restaurants Larry Price.She had a beautiful voice, and was well liked in Bethany.So, it would not have been considered unusual for a choir from the school to sing at the church."
