We lived and I still live in northern Idaho. OUr sons live in Boise. Ron fell in love with northern Idaho when he was 16 on a trip to Idaho and always wanted to live here. After the Army and Grad School at the U of Washington (architecture) he taught 3 years at Idaho State U in Pocatello. Then he was offered a job at the U of Idaho in Moscow and he was ecstatic. He was prof of Arcitecture, then Dept Chair and then with one of his buddies they wrote the proposal to create a new college at U of I, the College of Art and Architecture. They shepherdes that through state political hoops and once granted he served a number of years at Associate Dean and then as Acting Dean.
He, Alice, Wes and Steve loved to spend time in Sandpoint, Idaho where they were avid skiers and on boating on Lake Pend OReille in the summers. They also traveled extensively. Ron was forced to retire in 1999 because of failing health and died June 7, 2009. Alice continues to make Genesee her home base. She skis all winter, fishes in Alaska in the summer and likes to travel. |
