a few days before moving to phoenix. its 10th grade and the first week in october. i'm sad about leaving all my lifelong friends, but am excited to see what phoenix is like. this move affected me all during my life. i missed out on a lot of things with my best friends in lincoln and my life took a turn after the move to phoenix.

in phoenix about a month now. standing by an orange tree in the front yard. school is so easy here. the nebraska schools are way ahead of the schools in arizona. the things we studied in lincoln are taught in most 11th and 12th grades. i'm in 10th grade. this scool is nice. it has a campus with several buildings and a separate huge auditorium. the school name is north phoenix and the mascot is a "mustang" horse. (north high mustangs.) i'd rather be a northeast rocket. they have a cafeteria indoors and an outdoor "walk up" array of snackbars. they sell hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos, milkshakes, all sorts of soft drinks, candy, fried chicken plates, and more things i can't remember. there are outside tables, to sit at to eat, or you can go around the campus and eat on the grass.

we went to a greek niteclub at the port of houston one nite. a lady dancer, that was the floor show star, came to our table and kidnapped me. i became part of the show. she pulled my shirt way up and added some attire to me and instructed me to dance like a greek man. it was hilarius! i really did my best to dance with her. we got cheers from the crowd and then a standing ovation. man that was a fun time. the bottom photo is from a cruise we took all around the hawaian islands. these ladies and myself signed up to take hula lessons for a week. we performed on the last nite of the cruise up on stage for everyone. more about this on next photo.

bottom photo is on stage in front of 250 passengers and part of the ships crew. we danced the hula as no one before us had done it. it was a blast! being the only man, and dressed in a grass skirt and a coconut bra, was a big hit. flashing the audience by lifting my bra several times was a big hit. then they interviewed me about being the only man up there on stage. i told them i was a texan, where men are brave and to prove it i wore a grass skirt and a coconut bra to be an authentic representative of a real hawaian chief dancing with his many wives. it was so much fun and the people laughed so much. the next morning i was a celebrity on board. to bad we didn't make a movie. the black and white photos are my first serious girlfriend, mary. i really cared for her and we had good times back then. the picture with the hat--i remember the hat but can't remember what we were doing. the 2 color photos are from our store. one working on an estimate. one at break time.

another photo of mary and me. mary has a sister gloria. i saw her photo from the 50th reunion. little sister, janine, on my knee. she is mom and dads "surprise" 14 years younger than me. my first northeast "rocket" jacket. our family dog wanted her picture taken too. the other 5 photos are all in lincoln. before the move to phoenix. can't remember about them, but hoping they will jog some of your memories. hoping you might remember me from back then.
