Henry Fleming

Henry Enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1961 and was serving his second tour of duty as a Petty Officer (boiler tender) aboard the USS Dixie and was fatally injured as a result of a boiler explosion.

Henry was awarded several medals for his service including the Good Conduct Medal.

Marjean Larson Gingrich

Henry was another Havelock Elementary school kid. We started to kindergarten, and went all the way through school together, Henry was the oldest of a large family who, I believe, always struggled.

After high school, Henry joined the Navy, and eventually was killed in a ship fire during the Viet Nam war. He was a good person, a hard worker.

I have a fond memory of Henry in first grade, when, for "show and tell" he showed us his new galoshes, of which he was very proud. Another sad, early death for a classmate,
