Darrell Pavey

Darrell attended Wesleyan and also the University of Arkansas after graduation.

He married Charlotte and they had a son, Darrell Jr, and a daughter, Christina.

Darrell was involved with the Boy Scouts as a youth and also later as an adult with his son in Waverly Troup #76.

Darrell was a volunteer firefighter, and worked as a master welder for many companies in different states as a field construction boiler maker and was proud to be a union man. He enjoyed raising and showing Siberian Huskies with his family. Additionally, he had many interests including car shows, old cars and novelty welding.

In the last years of his life, Darrell fought heart failure. He underwent open heart surgeries to implant artificial devices to help his heart pump. He had a pacer and defibrillator impanted and was on a transplant list awaiting a donor when he passed away.

Darrell died in 2007 and his legacy continues through his organ, bone and tissue donations.

Many of us remember Darrell's mother, Mrs Selma Pavey from the library and offce at Northeast.

Dan Michaelson

Darrell was a Huntington kid. His mother, Selma Pavey, ran the textbook library at Northeast. Darrell had an older brother, Spencer (LNE '55) who was the envy of all of us boys because Spencer had a 10-speed bike, way back in about 1953 or so. I remember that Darrell was often one of the first chosen for athletic games at recess, because he was quite strong, and a pretty fast runner.
